Refugee support
Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is a special kind of mission in the history of the Jesuits because it is not a mission to the people of this or that place, but it is a mission to people who are displaced wherever they may be.
To be 'dis-placed' is to be 'without a place'. JRS is a mission to people who have been forced by war or persecution to flee their place and find refuge wherever they can, often in refugee camps in neighbouring countries. Wherever refugees go, JRS seeks to accompany them, serve them and plead for fair and just treatment for them. JRS works in countries around the world, including Australia.
JRS and Jesuit Mission are two works of the Society of Jesus serving the poor in the developing world. Jesuit Mission supports many international projects undertaken by JRS. Find out more about JRS at www.jrs.org.au
