The original overseas mission of the Australian and New Zealand Jesuits was in Hazaribag in India. It stands out as an example of what can be achieved through the dedication and hard work of Jesuits and friends. As the Hazaribag Jesuits became more established, Jesuit Mission extended its areas of interest and support to programs of the Society of Jesus in other countries. Whilst maintaining our commitment to the wonderful work being done in India, we now look also to our near neighbours in East Asia and Oceania and to other areas of special need.
With the help of our friends, Jesuit Mission supports programs that offer a direct benefit to the poor through relief and development, and we offer programs that encourage and support Jesuits in developing countries and prepare them for their mission.
